Description

As much as I love shooting vivid colour, some scenes scream-out to be photographed in black and white. Although the low winter sun cast strong, warm colours across these ruins of an ancient priory on Lihou Island, it was the contrast of the light that appealed to me most and I knew that the graphic nature of the crumbling walls would best suit a monochrome image. As such, I could shoot the scene with that in mind, using a polariser to increase contrast in the already dramatic sky and to make the strong highlights on the wall really ‘pop’.
