Description
A tuft of grass, buffeted by the wind, holds fast in a crack amongst dramatic rocks near Mont Cuet on Guernsey’s L’Ancresse Common. This image was almost accidental: having photographed the scene from a different location, I explored a narrow gap between the rocks and noticed that the setting sun would probably reach just far enough to illuminate the tuft of grass growing from the rock on the right – it did and you can see how tight it was if you notice where the shadow begins near the edge of the frame. All that was left to complete the photo was to wait for a cloud to fill up some empty space in the sky, which thankfully arrived before the sun had set, some minutes later.
